Comments:
This was the first offshore AEM (Air Entrapment Monohull) which finally evolved into the Bladerunner. Skean Dhu (the dagger a Scotsman wears in his stocking) won the Class 3D (Modified) National Championship in 1976 (her first season) and, although a Class 3D boat, she came third in Class 2 and eighth overall in the 1976 Cowes Torquay race. In 1979 she took the Class II World Speed Record at 93.8 mph and in 1980 the outright World Offshore Powerboat speed record at 102.45 mph using twin Mercury 225 outboards.
